Catasetum are perennial plants that go dormant every year. They lose all their leaves in late summer after flowering. They can be mistakenly thought to be dead, but they are not. If you squeeze the bulb and it is hard, then they are fine. They will start to grow new bulbs around April. Bulbs can be divided from the parent plant to form new plants. We do not recommend removing bulbs under 3-4 inches.
